Sabarimala update: Rahul Easwar, a social activist and president of the Ayyappa Dharma Sena and one of the activists who backed the ban on the entry of women, has been detained as a preventive measure at Pamba.  He is the son of the head priest of the Sabarimala shrine.

PTI also reports that senior minister, EP Jayarajan said that protertors would invite "Ayyappa dosham" (the wrath of Lord Ayyappa) for blocking devotees who go to Sabarimala after taking vrata (penance). He also said the ongoing agitation was "anti-people, anti-constitutional and anti-law". The government will give protection to devotees who are coming to offer worship at Sabarimala," he said in Thiruvananthapuram.

More than 50 people, including former Travancore Devaswom Board president Prayar Gopalakrishnan, were taken into custody in Nilakkal and Pamba for protesting against entry of women into Sabarimala temple.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has warned of "stern action' against those who prevent devotees from going to Sabarimala. "We will ensure security to all. Nobody will be allowed to take law into their hands. My government will not allow any violence in the name of Sabarimala," Vijayan said and ruled out any rethink of his government's decision against seeking a review of the Supreme Court order.

The Travancore Devaswom Board, which runs the hill-shrine, met the Tantri (head priest) family, the Pandalam royals and members of the Ayyappa Seva Sangam on Tuesday to reach a consensus on the issue and will further discuss it.
