Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena has dissolved Parliament after power-struggle, agency reports said.

Sirisena's move comes hours after Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa's his spokesman acknowledged on Friday that he remains short of the 'magic number' 113 required to prove his majority in Parliament, days ahead of the floor test in the House.

Sri Lanka is facing a major constitutional crisis after Sirisena ousted Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and replaced him with Rajapaksa and suspended Parliament.

The President's move has cleared the way for snap elections, that are likely to be held in January.   -- PTI, Agencies
