Jaya's birthday celebrations in PM's Benares

Former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa's birthday, which was on February 24, will be celebrated in Varanasi on Saturday, March 10. Varanasi is the Parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

AIADMK MP Dr V Maitreyan will be organising this function, where dhotis and sarees will be distributed to 2000 couples followed by a meal for the poor. Maitreyan has informed the PM about the celebrations

Jayalalithaa had established an AIADMK unit in Uttar Pradesh with 2500-strong cadre of weavers, some of who were Tamilians settled in the Varanasi for over four generations.

Interestingly, the colours used in the threads of Banarasi saris come from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
