Union Minister Ananthkumar Hegde indulged in some ugly name calling at a gathering in Karwar, Karnataka yesterday, when he likened the Opposition parties to crows, monkeys, foxes. Addressing the Opposition unity to take on the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, Hegde, said, "On one side crows, monkeys, foxes and others have come together, On the other side we have a tiger. In 2019, choose to elect the tiger.

He then quickly moved to the ridiculous.

Hegde then popped a question to the audience who was sitting on plastic chairs. "We are sitting on plastic chairs isn't it? This is due to Congress rule, had we ruled for 70 years, you would have been sitting on silver chairs."

Last month, Hegde launched an attack on the former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and called him Ravana who is taking the Congress party down.

He also called Siddaramaiah a ghost and was quoted as saying: The house where the ghosts enters will not survive.

He said the projects launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have not been implemented in Karnataka as Ravana rajya prevailed in the southern state.

Hegde is MoS Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
