Democrats narrating phony border stories: Trump

United States President Donald Trump, who faced massive backlash over his administration's immigration policy, has accused the Democrats of circulating "phony stories of sadness and grief."

"We must maintain a Strong Southern Border. We cannot allow our Country to be overrun by illegal immigrants as the Democrats tell their phony stories of sadness and grief, hoping it will help them in the elections. Obama and others had the same pictures, and did nothing about it!" Trump tweeted.

On a related note, the latest cover of TIME's magazine, featuring Trump and a wailing child has captured the controversial 'Zero Tolerance' policy of the US administration.

Creating a photo illustration of the now-reversed policy of separating children from parents who illegally enter the United States, the July 2 edition of the magazine captioned it, "Welcome to America."

Later, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote, "It's shameful that Dems and the media exploited this photo of a little girl to push their agenda. She was not separated from her mom. The separation here is from the facts. Dems should join POTUS and fix our broken immigration system."

Recently, Trump drew flak for his 'Zero Tolerance' policy as part of which the children of immigrant families are left behind while the parents are termed as the "prisoners". The migrant children are labelled as "unaccompanied minors" and sent to the government's custody or foster care.

Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order to "keep families together" reversing the controversial policy.
