The BJP is confident that the CPI-M sponsored impeachment against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra will not stand the scrutiny of the Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan or the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, M Venkaiah Naidu.

The BJP's legal minds are convinced that the impeachment, a judicial power, cannot be  used by politicians to threaten the judiciary.

The party's top leadership believes that CPM boss Sitaram Yechury wants use the impeachment motion to divert the attention from the fact that the party is facing an existential crisis. With two views emerging from the recent meeting of the central committee, Yechury's fate as general secretary hangs in balance. Hence, this diversion, the BJP leaders say.
