42 FIRs lodged in fake encounter deaths by Army in Manipur: SIT tells SC

At least 42 FIRs have been lodged in alleged fake encounter killings by the Army and police in Manipur, the CBI's SIT tells the Supreme Court. The SC says it is not satisfied by the progress made by the SIT in the probe on fake encounter deaths. The court directs the NHRC to depute three persons to be associated with the SIT to probe 17 cases. SIT's next status report must have the approval of the CBI's director. More details awaited.
