Visual from M Karunanidhi's memorial at Chennai's Marina beach where MK Stalin will visit later today. Stalin has been elected as President of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. The thick black frames are iconic of the DMK leader and the pen signifies that he was a man of letters. Could have been done more tastefully, we think.

The DMK has organised a memorial meeting of the DMK chief at Marina Beach on August 30.


BJP national president Amit Shah will not attend the memorial meeting and instead he will be represented by BJP senior and Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari and partys national general secretary Muralidhar Rao at the meeting.  West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is also unlikely to attend the meet.


Karunanidhi was buried at Chennai's Marina Beach near his mentor CN Annadurai's grave. This was after the Madras High Court granted permission for Karunanidhi's burial at the beach. The DMK patriarch was buried at Anna Square memorial.
