MK Stalin, who was elected unopposed as president of the DMK today, called out the AIADMK, PM Modi and his brother MK Alagairi.

Stalin, 65, who is the second president of the DMK, was the only candidate to file his nomination for the party chief's post on August 26.

Hitting out at the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu Stalin said, "AIADMK doesn't work for the people and opposes the people's welfare."

He also challenged the BJP and PM Narendra Modi saying, "Let's throw PM Modi out of power, lets teach him a lesson."

He said today's political situation has come as a grave challenge. Education, art, literature, religion are under attack by authoritative and communal forces. The Union govt is trying to destabilise judiciary, selection of governors. All this has dealt a blow to the secular principles.

Staking claim to the post of party president, Stalin said, "Kalaignar always praised me." Without mention his brother MK Alagiri who has also staked claim to the throne, Stalin declared, "I have no brother."

Congress president Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today congratulated DMK president M K Stalin on his elevation to his party's top post.
