Allahabad HC to monitor Unnao probe, asks for MLA's arrest

Unnao rape case: The Allahabad High Court has asked for a progress report by May 2 and that the court will monitor the probe. Court also said the MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar should be arrested and not just detained.


The CBI has taken over investigation in three cases related to the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl by the BJP MLA and detained him today for questioning, officials said today. The agency which was referred the matter only yesterday took immediate action by re-registering the UP police FIRs and brought the four-time MLA to its Lucknow office at around 5 am for questioning, they said. The officials said Sengar, an MLA from Bangarmau, had not been arrested yet. They said a team of officials would visit the scene of crime and question jail officials, police officials and family members of the MLA.
