This is not my India: A R Rahman on Gauri Lankesh's murder

Music maestro A R Rahman has condemned the killing of senior journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh, saying the current scenario does not represent the India he knows.

The Kannada journalist, known for her left-leaning outlook and forthright views on Hindutva politics, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at her residence on September 5.

The 50-year-old music composer expressed sadness over the incident.

"I am so sad about this. These kind of things don't happen in India. This is not my India. I want India to be progressive and kind," Rahman said.
