Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who resigned as Union minister yesterday, has said that the party asked him to resign and he followed.

Asked for the reason of resignation, Rudy said it is the prerogative of the prime minister and the government and the party decides (who should be a minister).

"I was asked to step down so I did. I got a chance to work in the government and will now keep on working for the party. It is normal. There should be no disagreement," Rudy said.

MoS Water Resources Sanjeev Balyan, who also resigned last night, said that he was asked to step down.

"My resignation was sought, I resigned. Will now work for the party full time in Western Uttar Pradesh," Balyan said. -- ANI
