NIA charges Zakir Naik with 'inciting terror'

The National Investigation Agemcy has filed a chargesheet against controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik.

Naik, who is absconding, has been charged with delivering hate speeches and for inciting terror.

The NIA has booked Naik under Section 120-B for waging war against the nation, 295-A for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings, 298. Utterances (speeches) with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person 10,13,18 of Sections 10,13 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The 51-year-old televangelist was being probed under terror and money-laundering charges by the NIA. 

He fled from India in July 2016, after terrorists in neighbouring Bangladesh claimed that they were inspired by his speeches.
