Comedian says Akshay's comedy show nixed his Modi-Rahul mimicry

Comedian Shyam Rangeela -- whose video imitating Prime Minister Narendra Modi (with a mimicked version of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi making a 'guest appearance') went viral on social media -- has alleged that Star Plus refused to air his act recorded for the channel's reality show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge', Karnika Kohli writes in The Wire.

'Rangeela, unlike other contestants who had to give auditions, was invited by the channel to participate in the reality show after his videos mimicking Modi and other politicians went viral on social media,' she writes.

Then came the twist in the tale.

According to Karnika, Rangeela was told to re-record his act without mimicking Modi. "They said you can't mimic Modi but you can do Rahul Gandhi,', Rangeela told The Wire. "I thought, ok, at least they are letting me do something, I can salvage something. But later they told me I can't do Rahul either",' the website says.
