President keeps out media on maiden foreign tour

In keeping with the NDA government's media policy, President Ram Nath Kovind, who embarked on his maiden foreign visit yesterday, is not taking along members of the Fourth Estate on the presidential aircraft, unlike his predecessors Pranab Mukherjee, Pratibha Patil and APJ Abdul Kalam who would take along a 25-member media delegation in the special aircraft.

With the President and prime minister now keeping the media out, all eyes are on what Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, who is known to be media-friendly, will do when he goes abroad.

Will he breach the official policy or stick to only official media like Doordarshan and AIR?
