Dera rape victims seek life imprisonment for Ram Rahim

More than a month after a special CBI court sentenced Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to 20 years in jail for raping two of his disciples, the two women have now moved the high court demanding greater punishment for the Dera Sacha Sauda chief.

The two rape survivors filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana high court today, seeking life imprisonment for Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the case.

On August 28, special CBI judge Jagdeep Singh sentenced Ram Rahim to 20 years in jail in two rape cases. 

The Dera chief is now serving his sentence as Qaidi number 1997 at Rohtak's Sunaria jail. 

His aide, Honeypreet Insan who was absconding for the last 38 days surrendered before the police on Tuesday.
