As President of the All India Congress Committee from January 2018, Rahul Gandhi will have a new team of office bearers.

Out with the old, in with the new, or rather young, is likely to be leitmotif that governs the overhaul. In fact, a ruthless chopping of senior Congress leaders is expected and brand new young faces will be inducted. Most of the office bearers will be less than 40 years' old.

Sources tell us that the three General Secretaries of the AICC will be Milind Deora, Sachin Pilot and Jatin Prasada. The treasurer is likely to be Kanishka Singh, a close confidante of both Rahul Gandhi as well as Priyanka Vadra. If you've heard Kanishka Singh's name before, it's because the BJP has accused him of being involved in the AgustaWestland and 2010 Commonwealth Games scams.

Senior leaders are jittery over the imminent axe which is expected to fall in the first week of January.

The AICC fresh faces will be announced after the poll results of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.  Assembly elections in Gujarat will be held on two days, December 9 for 89 assembly seats and December 14 for 93 seats.

Results will be announced for all 182 seats on December 18, along with Himachal Pradesh, which votes on November 9.
