2007 Mecca Masjid blast: Aseemanand gets bail

A court has granted bail to Swami Aseemanand in the Hyderabad Mecca Masjid blast case. 

Following the bail hearing, the controversial former member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh  will be released sometime on Thursday.
On May 18, 2007, an improvised explosive device was detonated inside Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad, killing nine people. Initially, the role of terror outfits such as LeT was suspected.

In May 2011, National Investigation Agency officials had chargesheeted Swami Aseemanand, who after confessing to having the role of right-wing activists, retracted his statement.

Aseemanand is also a co-accused in the Malegaon and Samjhauta Express blast cases.

Earlier this month, the NIA special court had acquitted Aseemanand and six others, while convicting three persons in the Ajmer Dargah blast case.
