Targetted as I am Dalit, says HC judge on SC-ordered warrant

Justice CS Karnan, the high court judge against whom the Supreme Court has issued a warrant for not appearing in court in a contempt case, has said he is being targetted because he is Dalit.

"This issue is a national issue. I have made a representation to the PM stating that some judges committed illegal activities, justice Karnan said. "I am being targetted as I am Dalit. This is a caste issue. It's an attempt to ruin my life. The order has been deliberately issued against me.

It's an unprecedented move by the Supreme Court and Justice Karnan, who is in the Calcutta High Court, will be served a warrant by the West Bengal police chief "personally" and produced on March 31, the top court directed.
