ABVP leader and ex-DU Students' Union vice president Sunny Dedha has been booked for assaulting an NSUI member and his friend at the Law faculty of the university.

Pradeep Vijayaran, a third-year law student, who contested 2015 DUSU polls as a candidate of NSUI, Congress's students' wing, said the incident happened last evening when he and his friend Vineet were studying at Law Centre-I of Campus of Law College of the varsity.

He alleged that Dedha, alongwith his 7-8 friends, hit him and Vineet.

Dedha rubbished the charges saying that the complainant, Pradeep, was in an inebriated state and picked a fight when he objected to him making "indecent" remarks.

A case under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), of the IPC has been registered at Maurice Nagar police station, said a senior police officer.
