Congress VP Rahul Gandhi has been released. He was arrested and kept in a makeshift jail in Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh. He will be meeting the family members of the farmers killed by the police during protests at the Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan border, inside Rajasthan. He cannot meet them in Madhya Pradesh.

Rahul spoke to families of the deceased farmers on the phone from the makeshift jail in Neemuch. @OfficeofRG, his official twitter handle, said  he conveyed his condolences to the families. "I'm here to meet them & will not be deterred from voicing their concerns."

Rahul was arrested before he could reach Mandsaur, the epicentre of the violent farmer protests, which have seen the deaths of five farmers. Rahul  attempted to defy police barricades as he swapped his car for a bike, then hopped on to another bike, and finally set out on foot through fields before he was taken to a guesthouse that served as a makeshift jail.
