Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has spoken to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar seeking his support for the Opposition's Vice Presidential candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi, reports ANI.

Reports say that the Bihar CM has assured Rahul of JD-U's support to Gandhi and told the Congress leader that Gandhi was his first preference as Presidential candidate.

Gopalkrishna Gandhi also spoke to Nitish Kumar.

This comes as a relief to the Opposition as Nitish's JD-U announced support for NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind and not the Opposition candidate Meira Kumar.

Reports say that the JD-U was miffed with the Congress, its alliance partner in Bihar, after senior party leader leader Ghulam Nabi Azad attacked Nitish Kumar for breaking ranks with the Opposition and supporting Kovind for the July 17 presidential poll.
