8 dead after shooter opens up at a popular Mexican music festival

Police are investigating a shooting at a popular festival in Mexico in which five people have been reportedly shot dead, reports news.com.au.


According to early reports, a security guard is among the dead, after shots were fired into the crowded closing party of the annual BPM Festival in Playa Del Carmen, a coastal resort town along the Yucatn Peninsula.


Popular DJ Jackmaster tweeted that shots had been fired into the festival crowd. The BPM festival is an annual event running from January 6 to 15 this year, its 10th anniversary. Along with thousands of people, the event featured more than 375 artists.
