CRPF commander injured in Bandipora improving

Medical bulletin of CRPF Commanding Officer Chetan Cheetah: The  condition of Chetan Cheetah, injured in Bandipora encounter, is improving slightly, tracheotomy to be done today. A Ryles tube has also been placed, vitals are stable.

The CRPF commanding officer Chetan Cheetah is battling for his life after he reportedly took nine bullets during an encounter with three suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba militants in Parraypora village, located in Bandipora districts Hajin area.

He was part of a joint team of CRPF, army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on February 14 morning.

The officer was first flown to 92 Base hospital in Srinagar and then to AIIMS via the Air Ambulance in Delhi.

42-year-old Cheetah is currently undergoing surgery at Jai Prakash Naryan Apex Trauma Centre to reduce intracranial pressure the pressure inside his skull.

He also had acidosis, a medical term for increased acidity in blood and other body tissues. AIIMS Spokesperson Amit Gupta said the officer, a resident of Kota in Rajasthan, also had bilateral upper limbs fractures.

Cheetah has already lost his right eye during the encounter.
