Present at the Delhi court are Kanimozhi's mother Rajathi Ammal, half-brother MK Alagiri, her husband G Aravindaan and other DMK leaders. The special court, which is exclusively dealing with the cases arising out of the 2G spectrum allocation scam, has directed all 17 accused to remain present for the verdict.

Judge OP Saini is scheduled to pronounce judgments in separate cases lodged by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate in the infamous scam which rocked the UPA government.

The verdict, likely to be delivered before 11am, may have a bearing on the bypoll being held today in Tamil Nadu's RK Nagar constituency, the seat vacated by the death of Jayalalithaa.

The trial in 2G spectrum scam started six years ago in 2011 after the court had framed charges against 17 accused in the CBI case for offences that entail punishment ranging from six months to life imprisonment.

CNN News18 says that BJP leader Subramanian Swamy is also waiting to enter the courtroom and defence lawyer Manali Singhal is objecting to his presence there. Swamy is a private complainant in the high-profile case.
