Maoists kill tribal man suspecting him to be police informer

Maoists have killed a 40-year-old tribal farmer here suspecting him to be a police informer, a senior police officer said today. Around 20 armed Left-wing extremists barged into Sadhu's house in Chitrakonda area of the district yesterday night and dragged him out, accusing him of being a police informer, Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Jagmohan Meena said.


Sadhu's body was found with his throat slit on the outskirts of the village this morning, Meena said. The Maoists also set ablaze two tractors, a JCB machine and some vehicles engaged in road construction work in the area, he said. Police have stepped up combing operations and patrolling in the district following the incident, the SP said.


The incident came a day after another tribal man was killed by the Maoists at Jandraguda village in Mathili police station area of the district. -- PTI
