India will be important partner in ensuring peace: Tillerson

United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Tuesday that the Donald Trump Administration 'looks to Pakistan to take decisive action against militant groups based in Pak that are a threat to region'.

After President Donald Trump announced America's new strategy in Afghanistan, Tillerson said India will be important partner in effort to ensure peace and stability.

"We welcome India's role in supporting Afghanistan," Tillerson said.

Earlier, Tillerson spoke to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani to discuss how they can help in shaping Trump's new South Asia strategy. -- PTI, ANI
