Vikas Barala (23), the son of Haryana BJP chief Shubhash Barala, who was arrested on Wednesday on the charges of stalking and attempting to kidnap Varnika Kundu, in Chandigarh last week, has reportedly accepted the charges, reports NDTV.

The 29-year-old victim, shared the entire ordeal of being chased by Vikas and his friend Ashish Kumar for hours on Friday night in a Facebook post. Kundu, who works as a DJ,  said they blocked her car, banged on her window and tried to force open the door.

This is the second time Vikas, 23, and his co-accused Ashish Kumar, 27, have been arrested in the case which has triggered a massive furore and brought the issue of women's safety on national centre stage.

The Chandigarh police grilled the two accused for nearly three hours yesterday and then added the non-bailable charge of 'attempt of abduction' under section 365 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code after claiming to have found "new fact and evidence" in the case which has been under constant media glare.

Both the accused will be produced before the court today, Director General of Police, Chandigarh, Tejinder Singh Luthra told mediapersons in Chandigarh.
