President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday hosted a 'At Home' for about a 100 freedom fighters at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The gift handed out to each invitee was unusual at best -- a kettle. Since the freedom fighters were all in advanced years, medical assistance was at hand in case of an emergency. In a handwritten, personal letter, given along with the kettle, Kovind said that he and 130 crore countrymen were grateful to them to get India freedom.

President Kovind posed for photographs with each freedom fighter and their families. A touching moment indeed, but not new for President Kovind, who has hosted a similar ceremony at when he was Bihar governor, at Patna's Raj Bhavan.
