JUST IN: Congress leader Ahmed Patel retains his Rajya Sabha seat from Gujarat, reports ANI.

The result came soon after the counting of votes was restarted after being stopped for a while..

It was stalled for a while after the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed two more Congress MLAs violated rules by showing ballots to unauthorised people.

The BJP's objection came soon after the Election Commission declared votes of two Congress MLAs, who cross-voted to BJP, invalid after the Congress complained that they showed it to unauthorised people. -- PTI, ANI
