April 24, 2017  11:42
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pressed for dialogue.

Mehbooba, who is under mounting attack in the face of fresh spurt in violence in Kashmir, briefed Modi on the prevailing situation in the state and the way forward.

She told the prime minister that the Centre should seriously think about the welfare of the state.

"There is no option but to talk," Mehbooba said.

Later speaking to the media, she said that the low voter turnout percentage during the bypolls was also discussed.

"We also discussed Indus Water Treaty and the financial loss J-K is incurring. PM has assured his full cooperation. Modi ji has repeatedly said he would follow Vajpayee ji's footsteps, whose policy is of reconciliation not confrontation."
