Chhattisgarh CM calls for emergency meeting after Naxal attack

Update on the Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh: Mirroring the attack on CRPF jawans last month in Sukma, Naxals laid an ambush on a patrolling party of CRPF jawans providing security to road construction work, killing 11. 

The attack occured at Burkapal village. The injured were evacuated by helicopter and CoBRA teams of CRPF were sent as reinforcements and were conducting search operations. The gunbattle lasted for an hour. The Naxals looted all arms and ammunition of the CRPF jawans.

Immediately after the incident, the home secretary called a high-level meeting of additional secretary and joint secretary of Naxal division to discuss the Naxal menace. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh also called an emergency meeting.

Last month,12 CRPF jawans providing security cover to road constructions were killed in the same district in a Naxal ambush.
