Ban opens UNGA debate with call to end Syria fighting

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has opened the annual General Assembly debate of world leaders today with a call to end the fighting in Syria.

'I appeal to all those with influence to end the fighting and get talks started,' Ban said in his ongoing farewell address.
