IAF MiG-21 aircraft crashes in Barmer; Pilot ejects safely

An Indian Air Force MiG-21 fighter aircraft has crashed in Barmer, Rajasthan. The pilot managed to eject safely after the incident.

Earlier in June, a MiG-27 aircraft crashed into a Jodhpur building. 

The MiG-21 has had a troubled past. In the last 10 years over 90 fighters including 11 MiG-27 have crashed, a report recently tabled in the Parliament said. Majority of the MiG27, inquiries have revealed that they went down because of "technical defects," the report adds.
