Sensex closes above 29,000-mark after 17 months

The Sensex closed above the 29,000-mark after 17 months, gaining 118.92 points to 29,045.28 and the NSE index Nifty ended higher by 34.55 points at 8,952.50.

The landmark was earlier reached in January 2015 where it hit a record high of 29,047.20
