The Ministry of Railways to introduce flexi fare system for Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi trains from September 9.

The ministry said in a release that the base fares will increase by 10 per cent with every 10 per cent of berths sold, subject to a prescribed ceiling limit.

For Rajdhani and Durunto trains, the ceiling will be 1.5 times the base fare, while in the case of Shatabdi, it will be 1.4 times the base fare.

However, there will be no change in the existing fare for first AC and executive classes in these trains, the ministry said.

Other supplementary charges like reservation charges, super-fast charge, catering charges, service tax and so on, as applicable, shall be levied separately.

Vacant berths left at the time of charting would be offered for current booking. Tickets under current booking shall be sold at the last price sold for that class and other supplementary charges like reservation fee, super-fast charges, catering charges and service tax, as applicable, shall be levied in full.
