The Uttar Pradesh police today arrested the prime accused in connection with the attack on senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Brijpal Teotia and his convoy, who were fired upon by assailants.

The police arrested Manoj from Uttar Pradesh's Muradnagar city.

Teotia and five others were shot at by unidentified assailants at Muradnagar in Ghaziabad on August 11. The assailants allegedly fired over 100 rounds of ammunition on his convoy.

The police have picked up large amounts of ammunition, including an AK-47 and two 9mm pistols from the crime scene.

Earlier, during August, the Uttar Pradesh police had arrested four of the 12 accused in the shootout at Teotia in Ghaziabad. The remaining eight have been identified, the police said.

The BJP leader was returning to Ghaziabad after addressing a protest against the Bulandshahr gang-rape incident where a mother-daughter duo were dragged out the car and allegedly gangraped.
