Onam celebrated at Rashtrapati Bhavan, but BJP, Congress stay away

Both the Congress and BJP did not attend the Onam celebrations held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on September 3, for which most of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's cabinet members had flown down.

The Onam celebrations, jointly organised by Indradhanush, a cultural outfit of Rashtrapati Bhavan, and the Kerala government, saw a Kathakali performance, Kerala-style thayambaka band, and a Kalaripayattu display.

The celebrations saw most of the CPM politburo members attending, and interestingly, more than President Pranab Mukherjee it was Vijayan who was the centre of attraction, with most participants wanting selfies with him.
