Dengue cases rise to 771, toll mounts to 9

A 25-year-old woman has died of dengue in Delhi taking to nine the count of fatalities due to the vector-borne disease, even as the number of people testing positive for it crossed 770.
Out of the total number of cases this season, August alone had accounted for 652.

According to a municipal report released today, at least 771 cases were reported till September 3, marking a rise of nearly 60 per cent from the count last week. 

Civic authorities which had till yesterday maintained the death tally at two, today updated the figure to four.

25-year-old Iram Khan, a native of Meerut, who lived in Jamia Nagar in south Delhi, succumbed to dengue on August 31 at the Apollo Hospital.
South Delhi Municipal Corporation which complies the report on vector-borne diseases on behalf of all civic bodies here, also acknowledged the death from dengue of Nazish Khan, who had died on August 12.
