Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's brother Shivpal Yadav tells party office bearers: I am ready to write on stamp paper that Akhilesh Yadav will be the CM. This statement comes after Shivpal Yadav went to Akhilesh Yadav's home yesterday. The two had a closed-door meeting that lasted nearly two hours.

The meeting took place just as Akhilesh Yadav's supporters began to obtain legal opinions about their options available to them if they decide to form a new party or secure complete hold over the existing one by sidelining the old guard.

Amid a raging family feud timed to election season, Mulayam Singh Yadav has already announced that son Akhilesh is the party's presumptive Chief Minister.

The declaration is Mulayam's newest attempt to end a tug-of-war for power between Akhilesh, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and older brother Shivpal Yadav, who is a cabinet minister. So far, he has leaned towards his brother, choosing as recently as last week to remain vague about who his party would pick as its chief ministerial candidate.
