PM living in virtual world; should wake up to real world: Congress
November 25, 2016  20:07

Congress today took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking people to go for mobile and internet banking and wondered whether the premier had any idea as to how many Indians had internet connectivity.
"Better come out of your virtual world to the real world," the party asked the Prime Minister.
Reacting to Modi's remarks made during a speech in Bathinda today, party spokesperson Manish Tewari said, "Modi asking people to go for internet banking when most of them did not have even bank accounts was akin to the French Queen Marie asking the poor to eat cake when she was told they did not have bread to eat.
He asserted that the Prime Minister was far removed from the grass-roots realities of India.
He suggested to Modi that he should first try to find out how many Indians were having bank accounts, had access to the banks and the internet, before asking them to go for internet banking.
"Since the Prime Minister spends most of his time in the virtual world with his Twitter handle, he seems to be oblivious of the real world which is queueing up outside the banks waiting for hours to get their own money," he observed, while urging the Prime Minister to come out of the virtual world into the real world.
