Accept cheque, card payments: Sports Minister Vijay Goel to SAI

Sports minister Vijay Goel said he has given directions to the director general of Sports Authority of India (SAI) to accept cheques or demand drafts from the public willing to use their facilities on a monthly or quarterly basis.

At present, SAI collects fees for their 'come and play scheme' in cash only.However, the government's demonitization drive has resulted in quite a few troubles for the paying public.

The SAI officials said that the old currency notes are not accepted and it has no system of accepting cheques or debit or credit card payments either.
