Mumbai: 6 dead after overloaded taxi topples on Eastern Freeway

Six people, most of them from one family, were killed in an accident on the Eastern Freeway in south Mumbai today morning. 

Three others were injured and rushed to the JJ hospital. The accident led to a massive traffic jam on the Eastern Freeway's south-bound stretch with the backlog stretching up to Sewri, police said.

The mishap was reported around 9am. There were at least nine people travelling in a cab which turned turtle. 

The occupants of the cab included three women, two children and men. Pydhonie traffic police immediately reached the spot to extract the victims from the wreckage. The taxi driver was also injured.
