Meet Rama, the Chinese student studying Hindi in Beijing

Twenty-five students studying Hindi at Peking University met President Pranab Mukherjee in Beijing. Interestingly, the students have been given Indian names like Neelam, Ganga, Yamuna, Rama, Sita and Lakshmi.

The Hindi teacher explained to the President that generally names of rivers are given to students. Even their examination papers and certificates bear their Indian names.

The 18 female and seven male students, some are keen to come to India after they graduate. Few of them would like to take up teaching Hindi in remote villages of China.
