DD and China's public broadcaster to exchange programmes

On the occassion of President Pranab Mukherjee's visit to China, Doordarshan and CCTV, the public broadcaster of China, will telecast a series of programmes fostering better people-to-people understanding between the two countries.

A statement released by Doordarshan said that Mukherjee's visit to China, from May 24 to 27, will lead to an interesting exchange of programmes between the two public broadcasters.

"This exchange of programmes comes under the ambit of an MOU signed in May 2015 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese premier Li Keqiang expanded the cooperation between the two countries from films to television co-productions," the statement said. 

Prasar Bharati CEO, Jawahar Sircar, played an instrumental role in the signing of the agreement with CCTV president Nie Chen Xi, back then, it added.
