Pinarayi Vijayan to be Kerala CM

Just in: Reports coming that the Left has chosen Pinarayi Vijayan over one-time CM Achuthanandan. he CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) staged a fascinating comeback in Kerala, winning 91 of 140 Assembly seats, as the incumbency- and scam-hit UDF led by the Congress managed to win only 47 seats. A formal announcement will be made later in the day.

While Politburo member Vijayan has been the CM candidate, what is now going to be watched is how the party would accommodate Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan, who had led the LDF campaign.
