After back-to-back defeats in Bihar and Delhi, the BJP is in a jubilant mood after its win in Assam. Speaking to TV channels, BJP president Amit Shah said that the party is committed to progress in Assam and will make it a developed state.

Hitting out at the Congress for disrupting the parliament, Shah said, "People who paralysed Parliament have been shown their place. India has taken two steps closer to Congress-mukt Bharat. These results are a stamp of approval on Narendra Modi's performance over the two years. It is a victory for politics of development.

"It is a matter of great joy for BJP that it has performed well in all 5 states. BJP's foundations have been strengthened by these victories."

BJP's Ram Madhav says, "Admit we learnt from our mistakes from Assam Bihar.

Sarbananda Sonowal of the BJP, who exit polls say is likely to be Assam's next chief minister, watched Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani and kept himself busy with his work as sports minister at the Centre, as he has waited for election results to be announced.
