A young woman jumped from the second floor of a building near Kolkata on Sunday to escape rape. Her boyfriend and two of his friends, who allegedly tried to rape her, have been arrested.

The 20-year-old woman is in hospital with a minor head injury. The incident took place on Sunday evening at Howrah near Kolkata.

The woman reportedly came to meet her boyfriend. Two of his friends were present when she arrived. They allegedly gave her a spiked drink and then propositioned her.

When she screamed, they allegedly threatened to kill her. That is when she ran to the balcony and jumped, the police say.
