Former home secretary G K Pillai did not include any note of dissent in the second affidavit on Ishrat Jahan from which he had distanced himself last week, reveals a document, reports Imran Ahmed Siddiqui in The Telegraph, Kolkata.

The Telegraph reports that it had accessed the file noting dated September 24, 2009, to find that then home minister P Chidambaram had written: 'As amended (second affidavit) please show clear copy....' This was followed by Pillai writing and signing on the same day: 'Clear copy shown to the home minister. Send it for filing.'

When asked by Imran why he did not write a note of dissent in the file, Pillai told the newspaper: "He (Chidambaram) was my political boss and that's why I did not think of putting my note of dissent on the file."

Incidentally, the report also reveals that Pillai is now an independent director with Adani Ports, whose chairman Ashoke Adani's proximity to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been much commented upon.
