Pakistani qawwali legend Amjad Sabri shot dead in Karachi

Legendary Pakistani Qawwali singer Amjad Sabri was shot dead in Karachi today by unidentified gunmen. Reporting his murder, Pakistani website Dawn.com said Sabri was gunned down in his car in Karachi's Liaquatabad area.

One of Pakistan's most famous singers, Sabri was known for his renditions of mystic poetry.

Sabri was embroiled in a controversy last year when he claimed that that Bajrangi Bhaijaan violated copyrights by using the qawwali Bhar Do Jholi without obtaining the rights.
